LESS TYPING. MORE ROOM TO THINK.
You speak.
Veetee types.
Voice-to-text turns what you say into written words. It’s also called dictation.
Get that thought down before it slips away. Speak an email, a note, or a first draft instead of typing it out. Read it over, make it yours, and get on with your day.
Your voice.
Your wavelength.
A lot less typing. A lot more you.
Thoughts, uninterrupted.
Speak naturally. Veetee handles the pauses.

FROM A VEETEE TESTER
Feedback that
keeps me going.
Dude, honestly the only thing that I could detect as failing was the punctuation data period instead of a question mark, and when I was dropping it into a field and editing a sentence, it capitalized the first letter. Honestly, I’m never going back to Google speech to text ever.

A friendly conversation
Meet Heart, Veetee’s voice.
Read along
Welcome back. Come on in; there's a little space by the window, and the kettle has just finished boiling. I was going to make a very sensible plan for the afternoon. Then the sun came out, and the sensible plan became a walk to the bakery. These things happen. Would you like coffee, or would tea be better? There's no hurry. We can talk about the important things in a minute. First, tell me about the small thing that made you smile today. It doesn't have to be impressive. Maybe you found your favorite pen. Maybe someone remembered how you take your coffee. Maybe, for once, every traffic light was green. I think those little moments deserve more attention. A day isn't made only of its biggest events. It's also the warm cup in your hands, the familiar song on the radio, and the person who stays a little longer because the conversation is good. So, take your time. I'm glad you stopped by.

After you install
- Open Veetee.
- Tap Create account. Any email works. The password needs 12 or more characters.
- Tap Continue, then While using the app to allow the microphone.
- Tap Allow for notifications.
- Tap I agree · continue. Android opens Accessibility. Tap Veetee floating button, turn on only the top switch, and tap Allow. Leave the shortcut switch off. Go back to Veetee.
- Tap Let’s go. The V button now floats on your screen.
- Open any app with a text box, tap the V, talk, then tap the V again. Your words go into the box.
Hold the V to hear the screen read aloud. Double tap it for options.
Why does Veetee need Accessibility?
It lets the floating button put your words into other apps and read the screen when you ask. Veetee explains this during setup. You choose whether to allow it.
Which switch do I turn on?
Choose Veetee floating button. Turn on only the top switch, Use Veetee floating button, and tap Allow if asked.
Leave Veetee floating button shortcut off. None of its shortcut options are needed.
First: allow the alpha download
- In Veetee’s setup, tap Open App info.
- Tap the three dots ⋮ at the top right, then Allow restricted settings. Confirm if asked.
- Return to Veetee and tap Next: turn on Veetee.
- Open Accessibility → Veetee floating button. Turn on only the top switch and tap Allow.
Leave the shortcut switch off. You can also reach App info by holding Veetee’s app icon.
No three-dot option? It may already be allowed. If Veetee is still greyed out in Accessibility, tap its row once, close Android’s message, then return to App info.

VEETEE FOR ANDROID
Detailed
documentation.
Pick a topic. Read just what you need.
Install and sign in
Download Veetee for Android, install it, and open it. The setup steps connect your account, microphone, and floating V button.
For the alpha download, open App info → three dots → Allow restricted settings first. Then open Accessibility → Veetee floating button. Turn on only the top “Use Veetee floating button” switch. Leave the shortcut switch off.
Android labels can vary. Help → Floating button setup walks you through it again.
Dictate into a text box
Select a text box. Tap the floating V, speak, then tap again to finish. Your words go into that box when they’re ready.
You can speak first and choose a box afterward. A check mark means your text is waiting. Tap a text box to paste it, or tap V again to clear the waiting copy. History keeps your transcript.
Some apps don’t accept automatic insertion yet. If it fails, copy your transcript from History and paste it yourself. Waiting text lasts up to ten minutes and clears when you lock your phone.
Smart Composition: say what you want written
Smart Composition means the software acts as an agent: it hears your high-level instructions, understands the subtext (for example, making it “formal”), and creates a brand-new output based on your intent.
Double tap V and turn on Smart Composition. Veetee on its own is fast voice to text; this switch is for when you want it written for you. Tap to talk, then tap to finish as usual. It writes up what you said: it fixes sentence structure, grammar and punctuation, and follows your directions about the document, so “write an email to Sam, sign it your friend Kyle” comes out as that email, directions left out. It keeps your words, strong language included, unless you ask for a different tone.
Want it just once? Leave the toggle off and hold V to finish that recording. Studio’s Finish button also supports this. Try saying, “Make this a friendly email,” followed by your message.
It takes longer than normal dictation and can still change something you meant. Read the result before sending. If Smart Composition fails, hold the entry in History and choose Retry Smart Composition. Your original stays available.
On veetee.dustforge.com, Smart Composition uses a hosted AI model through OpenRouter. Veetee asks for providers that don’t keep or train on your text.
The toggle is saved for your account on this phone. Turn it off for the fast path. Finishing from the notification or reaching the recording limit uses the fast path.
Hear a screen summary
When you’re not recording, hold V. With Detailed Reading off, Veetee gives you a short audio summary of the main text on your screen.
Veetee asks before reading another app. It skips text boxes and common controls. Some apps cannot share their text. Tap V once to stop preparation or playback.
Detailed Reading: start here and keep going
Scroll to where you want to start. Double tap V, turn on Detailed Reading, then hold V.
Reading starts at the top of your current screen and continues downward, including text below the bottom of the screen. It skips text you’ve already scrolled past. It reads the main text instead of making a summary.
Veetee may scroll to gather more text, then try to return to your starting position. It won’t open links or expand hidden sections. Some apps cannot share exactly where their visible text starts.
Tap V to stop. Turn Detailed Reading off to return to summaries. Very long remaining sections still have a limit; for now, move further down and try again.
Read a photo aloud, in English
Tap V once, then quickly press and hold it. Your phone’s camera opens. Take a picture of a page and confirm it. Veetee reads the page aloud in English, translating other languages.
The first time, choose Enhanced or Phone only. Enhanced sends the photo to your Veetee server, which uses a hosted AI model to read and translate it. It handles most languages and skips page numbers, running headers and footnotes. Phone only keeps the photo on your phone; it works best with languages written in the Latin alphabet, and downloads each translation language once (about 30 MB).
Hold the page flat, fill the frame and use good light. Tap V to stop. Change or turn off photo reading in Help → Read aloud.
Your books
Open Account → Your books. Tap Scan a new book and photograph the first page. Veetee reads it aloud and saves it as a book. Use Add page for each new page, and Continue to pick up where you stopped.
More lets you listen from the beginning, read along with the English text, rename or delete a book. Books are saved encrypted on your phone only, until you delete them; photos are not kept.
What the button shows
The microphone means it’s listening. A moving indicator means it’s processing your words. The check mark means text is waiting for a box.
Writing lines mean it’s preparing a reading; the speaker means audio is playing. An exclamation mark means something went wrong. Check History for saved dictation or Help → Read aloud for the last reading error.
Notes in Studio
Tap Notes, speak, then tap Finish. Your words appear in the Notes box and in History. Dictation into another app stays in History without filling this box.
The little × clears the Notes box, not History. Copy text copies what’s in the box. Reopening Veetee takes you back to Studio.
Find, copy, or delete a transcript
Open History. Tap a transcript to copy it. Hold one to see the full text, its original version when available, and any retry options.
Swipe a card to delete it. Its Undo button stays for three seconds. History stays on this phone for 24 hours unless you delete it sooner.
Get transcripts on your computer
In History, tap Export. This saves your current transcripts and their recording dates to your online account.
Open Account → Online account, or sign in on the Veetee website. You can read, copy, download, or delete your exports there. Nothing in History is uploaded unless you choose Export.
Exports stay while your account is active. After paid access ends, the current retention period is 60 days. Deleting phone History does not delete an export.
Your spelling words
Open Words. Enter the spelling you want, and under “Heard as” the ways Veetee mishears it, separated by commas. Entering a word you already have replaces it.
Hard words can come out several ways. In the app, tap a word in your list, type another heard-as spelling in the field that opens and press Done. Tap the word again to close it. In your online account you can also remove a single heard-as spelling with ×. Each word can hold up to 50.
Newest words appear first. Remove deletes a word and all its heard-as spellings. Your words save to your account and follow you to the app, the Ubuntu app and Spelling words in your online account.
Colors, fonts, and the listening pulse
Try a random font or style in Studio. The name below each button shows your current choice.
Open Style to pick a palette or font. The lists are alphabetical, and the current choice has a border. The floating V uses your chosen font too.
Style also lets you switch the listening pulse between the soft background color and the accent color. Your palette and font save to your account. New installs start with Cherry Soda and Pacifico.
Lost connection or unfinished recording
Veetee saves recordings on your phone while they’re being transcribed. If the connection drops, check History and use the retry option on the saved entry.
Unfinished audio stays for up to three hours. Once a transcript is safely saved, its audio is deleted. You can’t replay audio after that. Recording sessions can last up to 30 minutes.
Reading audio is temporary and does not appear in History. Hold V again to retry a failed reading.
Your account and settings
Tap the menu marked Account. Online account opens the website for exported transcripts, your password, and connected devices. You can also sign out, review privacy information, or delete your account.
Signing back in restores your saved vocabulary, palette, and font. Uninstalling the app removes its local History. Export transcripts you want to keep before uninstalling.
Updates and help
Veetee checks for updates when you open it. You can also use Help → Check for updates. Android asks before installing an update.
Found a bug or want a feature? Open Help, describe what happened, and send the request. You can read replies there too.
Change server
Help → Change server is for the Veetee team’s test servers. Everyone else keeps the default, which is the Veetee service.
What Veetee reads and saves
The microphone records when you start it. Dictation audio goes to your chosen server over HTTPS. Reading sends the text you ask it to read, and Enhanced photo reading sends the photo you take. Password and editable fields are excluded from screen reading.
The server processes dictation and reading without archiving their content. Local History, explicit exports, and account settings have separate retention rules. See Privacy & your data for the full details.

TERMS OF SERVICE
The rules,
in plain words.
Veetee is a service of Kyle Mayer, doing business as Dustforge, Redding, California. By creating an account or using Veetee you agree to these terms. Updated October 15, 2026.
Plans and the free trial
Veetee costs $5.99 a month or $49.99 a year, plus any sales tax that applies. Each account gets one free 30-day trial. No card is needed to start it. If you add a card, your plan starts when the trial ends and renews automatically each month or year until you cancel. If no card is on file when the trial ends, the plan simply stops and nothing is charged. Plans bought in the Android app are billed by Google Play under Google’s terms.
Canceling
Cancel anytime from your account page (Manage subscription), or by emailing us. Your plan keeps working until the end of the time you already paid for, and is not renewed.
Refunds: 60-day money-back guarantee
If Veetee isn’t right for you, we refund any charge in full when you ask within 60 days of that charge. Email support@dustforge.com or call or text 530-405-9531 from the address on your account. Refunds go back to the card you paid with, usually within 5 to 10 business days. A refunded plan ends when the refund is made.
Fair use
Use Veetee for your own dictation and reading. Don’t use it to break the law, to harm others, to resell the service, or to overload or break into our servers. Daily reading limits apply to keep the service fast for everyone. We may suspend accounts that break these rules.
Your content
Your words and recordings are yours. We handle them only to provide the service, as described in our privacy policy.
No guarantees
Speech recognition makes mistakes. Check important text before you send it. Veetee is provided as is, without warranties. To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before a claim.
Changes
We may change these terms or prices. We’ll tell you by email at least 30 days before a price change affects your plan, and you can cancel before it does.

YOUR VOICE. YOUR DATA.
Privacy,
in plain words.
Your audio is sent securely to your Veetee server to turn it into text. The server transcribes your words and cleans up grammar, punctuation and pauses in memory. It does not archive your dictation audio. Text stays on your phone unless you tap Export in History.
On veetee.dustforge.com, the recognized text of each dictation (never the audio) is sent to TypeSafe’s Jev service to decide where sentences end, so a thinking pause does not become a period. The server does not save that text, and Jev receives no account details.
Train Veetee to understand me better is a switch in the Android app’s Account menu, off unless you turn it on. While it is on, the audio and text of your dictations are kept on your Veetee server for up to 14 days. Veetee’s developers, and the AI tools they work with, may review them to tune recognition and punctuation to the way you speak. They are never sold, used for advertising, or shared beyond that. Turning the switch off deletes everything kept for your account, and so does deleting the account.
We store your account email, password hash, vocabulary, preferences and support conversations so the service can work across your devices. If you join the waiting list, we store your email to let you know when there’s room. Security event metadata is kept for up to 90 days. When email delivery is enabled, account emails wait in an encrypted queue and are removed after delivery or expiry. Android reads the selected field locally to insert your dictation; that field’s contents are not sent to the server. Optional Android Read aloud asks separately before sending visible content from your current app to your Veetee server for a short spoken summary. Detailed Reading asks separately before gathering the main content from your current screen downward, scrolling when needed, and sending it to your server to read from your current position downward. Editable and password fields are excluded. If an app cannot share text positions, Veetee recognizes the visible text on your phone. Screen images stay in memory on your phone; they are never saved or uploaded. Screen text, summaries and playback audio are processed temporarily and are not saved in History or server logs. Per-account usage counters are kept for up to 31 days. You can turn this feature off in Help → Read aloud.
Photo reading uses your phone’s own camera app. With Enhanced reading, the photo goes to your Veetee server, which sends it to a hosted AI service (OpenRouter) to read and translate the page. On veetee.dustforge.com, the optional Smart Composition mode sends your recognized text to the same service. Veetee asks for providers that don’t keep or train on your data, and the server does not save photos or that text. Phone-only photo reading uses Google ML Kit on your phone; ML Kit sends Google device, app and performance diagnostics, never your photos or text. Your books are saved encrypted on your phone only, until you delete them. There are no advertising SDKs in the Android app.
Android encrypts temporary recordings and transcripts on your phone, separately for each account. Audio is deleted once the returned transcript is safely saved. Untranscribed audio expires after 3 hours; transcripts after 24 hours, measured from when recording began. History lets you view and copy the cleaned or original transcript, retry pending audio or delete entries sooner. Expiry also applies while signed out. Android may defer background file cleanup while the app is stopped; expired history cannot be opened or retried. Uninstalling the app removes its local history. Operational server logs record request metadata, not recording content. This early-access service is hosted by Dustforge; a self-hosted operator controls their own server and backups.
Export saves your transcripts and recording dates in your account so you can copy or download them on another device. Exports stay until you delete them while your account is active. After paid access ends, they stay for 60 days. Alpha accounts remain active without payment. Deleting phone History does not delete an export; manage saved exports in Account. Audio is never exported.
Delete your account and its associated active server records from the app or this page. Deleting through the Android app also removes that account’s saved history on that phone. You can remove local history entries sooner in History. Encrypted account backups are retained for up to seven days and then removed during the next successful backup. A server outage can delay that cleanup. Signing-key backups do not contain account data. Contact us through Help about your data.
